It began with flattery online, and moved to something more intimate, pictures were shared and then the talking stopped. A year later the pictures resurfaced and were spread across the internet. They became the target for countless people; everyone was in on teasing them or calling them names, some even taking to physical abuse to harm them. It wouldn’t stop so they changed schools numerous times but at this point their story was known by all. With no one to call a friend their life did not seem worth living and they did the only thing they could think of and ended it. Some of you may know who this story belongs to but do you really? This is Amanda Todd’s. Of course she is not the only one, Hope Witsell, Jessica Logan and Cora Delille all share a smilar story. This is what can happen when nobody is willing to listen or help the victim. This is what can happen when no one is there to stand up to the abusers. There are thousands of stories out there about people who have been a victim of bullying. I know from personal experience just how hurtful cyber bullying can be. The oh so enjoyable “beef” on Twitter does not come without drawbacks. Although I may not be one of the participants I have seen firsthand how hurtful others’ words can be.
