Conclusion

Since 1986, when Eleanor & Park was set, bullying has changed and adapted to today’s society. More and more of the bullies are turning to the internet as a way to target their victim. There are still too many cases of bullying happening to this day though. Any type of bullying is wrong; no one should have to endure any kind of unwanted attention or actions. They should not feel unsafe in their school, community, online or even at home. Everyone should learn what it means when asked to stop, if someone does not want you to say or continue what you are doing it’s a simple as that, don’t! I cannot understand how this could be a difficult concept to anyone. It makes me extremely appalled that there are people who do these kinds of things for the thrill of it. I hope that one day soon bullying will be a thing of the past and only something we talk about so it does not occur again. As a society there are so many things we can be doing now to continue to prevent and stop bullying. The most important thing is to educate yourself, learn about the signs and learn about measures you can take to prevent it from happening. As a teen you could join a club aimed at helping others or avoiding bullying. If there isn’t one start your own, get others involved because the only way to make a larger impact is with more people. As an adult be there, be someone kids and teens feel comfortable coming to confide in you about their problems. Also know your resources and use your knowledge to direct them to the proper places for further help. I am in no way putting down all the progress that has been made concerning bullying and putting an end to it but we are by no means at the end of this journey. We are all equally responsible for what we want our community, town, city, province and country to look like so why aren’t we the ones making a difference? What’s stopping you?
